A Look Back, Marian & Will

Marian & Will married on a beautiful late August day with the help of some amazing wedding professionals, many of who belong to Palettes of Perfection. We have Blend Photography to thank for the beautiful images that follow and Shay Brown Events for the Wedding Planning and Event Design.

Flora created the beautiful floral arrangements, bouquets and boutonnieres. Cody's Wedding Creations did a fabulous job with hair and make up!

Allegro Music provided the ceremony music and what a spectacular back drop! I love Mountain Weddings!

Asheville Beverage and Event Supply and Johnnie's Catering Company provided guests with spirits and delicious fare. The guests and family danced the night away thanks to Sound Extreme Entertainment.

Rain Blessed Weddings

Spring is here and that means the wedding season has arrived here in Asheville NC . We love the start of season with all the fresh flowers, trees in bloom and the mountains around us turning green; provides such a majestic setting for outdoor weddings.

However, with the beauty that mother nature brings, she also brings trying times for wedding planners in the form of weather. Most of our outdoor events are sunny and gorgeous. When we know there is a chance of weather we want to make sure that you are prepared and embrace what you cannot change by making the weather work for you.

This is exactly what was planned for Molly & Roberts wedding at the Old Edwards Inn in Highlands NC, thunderstorms invited themselves on all four days of the event but we embraced the challenges at SBE and made sure that all of the events were flawless.

In the planning phase it was determined early on that Molly would provide all the bridesmaids with classic rain boots to keep their toes dry leading up to the ceremony.

How cute are these boots and what a great image to capture for your wedding day. Parker J Pfister managed to capture every element of the wedding day from the rain to the break in the sky when the sun decided to shine down on us just as Molly walked down the isle.

As always the perfect hostess, guests were also offered umbrellas to keep themselves dry while walking between ceremony and reception sites. It is important to make sure that when providing umbrellas you go ahead and spend the extra cash for each guest to have there own, it makes all the difference in the comfort of the wedding.

Through sunny & cloudy moments, we at Shay Brown Events found that this was one of our favorite weddings this past year. There were so many amazing moments in which the elements of nature truly made the event perfect. We wish Molly & Robert years of wedded bliss.

Always know that if it rains on your wedding day; it is mother natures way of wishing you a blessed and successful marriage. So never let a little rain dampen your spirits.

Intimate Winter Wedding

Congratulations to Emily & Chase!

On January 23rd Emily & Chase said "I Do" at The Venue, one of Asheville's lovely wedding and event sites. The exposed wooden beams and french cottage feel was the perfect setting for this family affair.

Thanks to The 4th Dimension for recording their day. We love working with this photography team. Their laid back approach really makes the entire day fun and exciting for the wedding party.

Our very own Ben Sikorski with Sound Extreme is also the lead singer in his own band - Crocodile Smile. Ben kept everyone dancing all night with his soulful voice and magnetic energy.

Shay Brown Events enjoyed helping Emily & Chase create the wedding they dreamed of by designing the wedding and producing all the floral elements for the wedding.

Shay Brown Events loves to travel for weddings! In July we were in Kingsport, Tennessee for Nancy & Michael's wedding day.

Kelly Giezentanner Photographs photographed this gorgeous day and did a fabulous job truly capturing the emotions and beauty surrounding the couple.

Following a chapel wedding where Allegro Music provided the quartet, the couple and their guests had an elegant dinner at Meadowview Marriott. The floral and design elements were created by F l o r a. Lots of candle light, floating twig spheres, natural tablescapes and grand trees as centerpieces (!) set the stage for a magnificent evening.

Above is F l o r a's famous 'kissing stump' dedicating the 'wedding favor' table. Below are the favors- live plants in hollowed-out stumps and bell jars! Guests can take something with them to have for always and remind them of Nancy & Michael's love. Adorable.

The wedding cakes were created by Just Simply Delicious out of Waynesville, NC. Tiers of delicious wedding cake separated by white hydrangeas made up the bride's cake while the groom's cake (not pictured) boasted an uncanny replica of the Tennessee Volunteer's stadium! Needless to say, Michael is a Vols fan!

Masterpiece Ice created the monogrammed ice sculpture (pictured at top). It served as both a gorgeous focal point at cocktail hour and as a receptacle for the fruit!

Entertainment for the evening was provided by Split Second Sound and yes there was one of the longest conga lines I've ever seen led by the DJ himself!

We all enjoyed being a part of this special day!

How Sweet It Is

A couple of months ago I posted a 'sneak peak' video of one of our fabulous June weddings. I promised a complete wedding post and here it is!

On June 5th Laura and Greg said 'I Do' at Deerpark, one of the Biltmore Estate's amazing venues. With its elaborate courtyard, summer foliage, unique lighting and original wood beams the venue served as a perfect space for the laid-back couple to tie the knot. Along side their family & friends, the ceremony was held in the courtyard followed by a cocktail hour in the Lodge Room and a reception in the open-air dining room.

Above, the couple rehearsed their choreographed first dance on the entrance steps of the Estate. I Do Dances was the rhythm behind this dance, and the hours they put in perfecting it really paid off- it was great!

As the Wedding Coordinator, Shay Brown Events felt so lucky to be working with some of the most talented vendors in the area. The day was captured by Blend Photography, and I don't think I need to say anything more- the photos certainly speak for themselves!

Two Ring Studios was the videographer and truly did an amazing job capturing this wedding. See their video clip in a previous post.

Scott Thompson worked his magic on the (already-beautiful!) bride as her make-up artist. Her hair was done at the oh-so-savvy Suraj Spa.

The Baggie Goose created one of my all-time favorite 'fan ceremony programs'. Perfect idea for a summer wedding.

The floral (pictured below) was created by F l o r a, one of Asheville, North Carolina's newest and fastest growing wedding & event florists. Flora's unique fashion and unprecedented style is being noticed by publications and designers around the country. The rich purple paired with the soft ivory created an elegant, romantic and fun atmosphere for the whole day.

The guests danced the night away to entertainment provided by The Business, one of Asheville's most talented & interactive wedding bands. If you can name it, Jim (the lead singer) can sing it!

The couple exited as the new 'Mr. & Mrs.' in a Rolls Royce provided by Elite Limousine.

Their guests saw them off with rose petals and good wishes. Congratulations, Laura & Greg. We wish you all the happiness in your future.

Sara and Sam were such a pleasure to work with!

They were both so laid back and easy going. Sara and Sam came to Asheville and booked Shay Brown Event's services over a year in advance. Sara really knew the design, sentiment and expression that she wanted to relay in her and Sam's wedding.

The fabulous Scott Thompson did Sara's make up and the very talented Cody Pettry of Cody's Wedding Creations helped create Sara's amazing up do!

Woodward and Rick Photography did an excellent job at capturing the classical elegance that Sara and Sam wanted to convey.

The ceremony took place in Asheville at the Biltmore House Walled Gardens, then the reception followed inside the Conservatory.

Parker J's Grand Opening

Shay Brown Events helped make this event a red carpet affair!

Up lighting was used outside to create the red carpet feel that Parker J requested. He wanted his ultra modern studio store front to reflect a classic timelessness...all the wait staff dressed in classic garb like the cigarette girls from the Rat Pack days!

Short Street Cake's fabulous cupcakes, yum!

Shay Brown Events created this beautiful bamboo centerpiece for the buffet table.

The food was provided by Dining Innovations, a somewhat new catering company that did an amazingly yummy job!

Cocktail tables were draped with modernist linens for a fresh look!

We had a blast helping Parker J with his Grand Opening and attending it as well!

Shay Brown Events helped with wedding coordination, planning and the overall flow of the event at the Albermale Inn in Asheville, NC. Christy and Bill already had a lot of their vendors selected but Shay Brown Events was able to come into the planning process near the end and bring all the details and vendors together to create a seamless wedding!

Shay Brown Events added a special touch by placing vases of flowers and mercury candle pillars through out the Inn.

The Albermale Inn is such a beautiful location for a wedding in Asheville, NC!

Sheridan Cupp Photography captured the beauty of the Inn, the day and the joy of Bill and Christy and their guests!

Blossoms on Biltmore Park did a beautiful job with the flower arrangements and the bouquet!

Sister's McMullen made the cupcakes and provided the beautiful display. Many brides are choosing to have cupcakes for their guests and still have the traditional wedding cake topper to take with them.

We loved all the details that Christy put into her wedding like the favor tins with mints, the welcome sign and the signature drink which she cleverly named Love Potion #9!

"We had the wedding of a lifetime thanks to Shay Brown Events! We live in Tampa, so most of the planning was done from long distance...Shay followed up with all of our vendors to make sure everyone was on track so we didn't have to worry about it when we arrived in Asheville...A few weeks prior to the wedding, we learned that the shipping company we used to ship many of our very important wedding items to Asheville delivered to the wrong address in another part of town. Shay herself researched and figured out where the shipping company left the packages...If Shay had not found the packages for us, our hands would have been tied back in Tampa...On the day of the wedding Shay discovered that the sign in photo had never arrived. Instead of coming to me with the problem on my wedding day, Shay took it upon herself to go to a local frame shop and have the frame replicated. She checked with me to make sure it met my approval before displaying it. I was thrilled that she solved the problem before I even knew about it...Shay, thank you again. You really made all the difference for our very special day. I wish you were in Tampa so I could recommend you to all of my friends here! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!"

Shay Brown Events was so happy to help Raffaele and Chris plan their destination wedding at the Biltmore Inn. Shay Brown Events started working with Raffaele from the beginning and helped with vendor selection and design.

The Basilica of St. Lawrence is a beautiful Catholic Church that the happy couple picked for their afternoon ceremony. The basilica is in the heart of downtown Asheville.

Audrey Goforth Photography did a great job at capturing the beauty of the Basilica inside.

The reception took place at the The Biltmore Inn later on in the evening. Guest arrived for a cocktail hour before the dinner and dancing began. The Biltmore catered all the food and made the cake.

The Flower Gallery made arrangements for the church as well as for the reception.

The couple was able to enjoy a beautiful day together between the ceremony and reception. Audrey Goforth captured the beauty of the Biltmore Estate, the Asheville weather, and the very happy newly weds!

"Shay and her staff were there every step of the way! They went above and beyond what was expected! From the small details to the major details (like almost not having a Priest) SBE worked diligently to make sure everything came together. Many people had told me that a wedding is never perfect and something always comes up unexpectedly, however I disagree, with Shay's hard work and determination, our wedding was the perfect fairytale come true! From a few days before the wedding to a few days after, Shay was in touch with all of the vendors and handled all of the details. Not once did I received a call from any of the vendors with any questions, Shay had it all covered!! Due to SBE's great reputation, they had worked with all of the vendors I chose in past events, which made things go even smoother! Preserve, Dry and Pressing Ideas for your Bridal Bouquet

When it comes to preserving your wedding bouquet there are many options. You can dry your bouquet upside down, preserve each flower with silica gel and put your bouquet back together piece by piece and frame it, you can press the flowers and frame them and there is even a microwaving technique to preserve your bouquet.

I found this information from the WeddingChannel.com very helpful!

I also found the site Dry Your Own Bouquet very interesting. You can see their gallery of framed bouquet's, which are amazing. There is a tutorial on how to preserve your flowers and frame them. This comes with a cost but I think it is definitely worth checking out for yourself!

The Bridal Bouquet can become quite pricey and is such an icon of the Wedding. Why not make it's beauty last for a lifetime? Can you imagine showing your grandchildren your wedding bouquet one day? That would be quite the experience!

Sara and Buzz live out of town, like most of our couple's getting married, and were a little overwhelmed when we met. Aria Floral provided the Flower Girls with baskets full of fresh herbs like mint and rosemary that they tossed down the aisle. We love this idea and find it so creative as well as providing a delicious sent for the guests!

Short Street Cakes made the Wedding Cake and the Groom's cake! Yum! Short Street Cakes also offers vegan cakes and other dietary specialties; we love that we can offer this to our clients, thank you Short Street!

Aria Floral added their touch with flowers, greenery and even fresh local blueberries to bring in the purple color that was accentuated throughout the wedding.

We loved the open apothecary jars that Aria Floral used in their design! We love how Aria creates pieces of work that truly display the beauty that nature is.

Lauren and Joseph were married on a beautiful June day and we think this photograph says just that! A beautiful day, a beautiful couple and a beautiful wedding.

Shay Brown Events was able to help with design, vendor selection and coordination for this wedding. We were there at the start of their planning process and truly enjoy seeing how the wedding unfolds from beginning to end, thank you Lauren and Joseph!

Dahlia, a Florist...used limes, hydrangeas and greenery to showcase the fresh contemporary look and colors that Lauren envisioned.

Masterpiece Ice made a fabulous centerpiece for an Ice Tea and Lemonade Bar that contained ice canisters to hold fruit so that their guest could make their own favorite signature drinks! The couple's initials were monogrammed at the top.

Couture Cakes did a fabulous job creating exactly what Lauren described; they utilized her colors perfectly and her monogram.

Downtown Greenville, SC and the Hyatt at night were great backdrops for Lauren and Joseph to have their photographs taken by Cox Photography.

Shay Brown Events began helping Jessica and Neal once they had selected many of their vendors. We love to help design and coordinate no matter what part of the planning process our client's are in. Shay Brown had coordinated at the Cliffs at Walnut Cove before so she was very familiar with the potential of the site. Aria Floral and Shay Brown Events worked hand in hand to create the vision that Jessica and Neal had.

Florals and Fruits were placed throughout bringing a crisp and vivid feel to Jessica and Neal's Wedding Day!

Deliciously infused water for guests also made a stunning decoration as well as a perfect refreshment for a hot summer day!

Bold fresh colors repeated themselves throughout the wedding from the cake, bouquet, and ring of flowers for the flower girl...it was bright and beautiful everywhere you looked!

Details, Details, Details! Place cards tucked into an over pouring pot of greenery and a basket offering up flip flops for guest to encourage them to relax, kick back and enjoy themselves.

What gorgeous weather and what a gorgeous couple too!

Casey Cunningham Photography did wonderfully at capturing the essence of the whole day, the details, the family and friends...I know Jessica and Neal will treasure these images for a lifetime!

Aria Floral made the monogrammed "N" and "J" as well as the ring pillow. The tent began to glow as the sun went down and Aria Floral added their detail with candlelit mercury lanterns that were strung from the gorgeous tree outside the tent.

We loved this idea of a candy bar at the end of the night! The card reads, "A sweet ending...to a new beginning"!

Shay Brown Events helped Elizabeth and Robert plan their wedding from beginning to end. Elizabeth was certain that The Lake Lure Inn was the place she wanted to have her reception. The ceremony took place at The Chimney Rock Baptist Church. We had a great time through out the planning process with Elizabeth and her mom Debbie and we are so happy that we were able to make her vision come to life!

The Bloom Room started working with Elizabeth early on to help create the elegance she desired. Her bouquet of hydrangea and antique roses complimented the classic look that she hoped for.

A Horse drawn carriage by Hamrick Carriage Service whisked the couple away after the ceremony and trotted down the road towards The Lake Lure Inn.

Lissa Thomas with Flora made the moss "N" monogram that floated in the pool outside at the Reception. (Shay even got in the pool to anchor the "N" down, that was a funny photo op!) Shay Brown used Luminaries to line the edge of the pool to give off an elegant glow as the sun set.

VISIO Photography did an AMAZING job capturing this wedding! They also did Elizabeth's bridal portraits which were beautiful. We were so happy to get another chance to work with VISIO Photography.

We were so excited to find out that Catherine and Andrew have been published on Style Me Pretty and the Little Black Book! They were such a fun and amazing couple to work with.

The Staff at Shay Brown Events was there from the very first phone call before Cat and Andrew had decided on even a Venue! We love helping from beginning to end!

Aria Floral was there every step of the way throughout the planning process. Catherine's bouquet is full of local flowers including blueberries and peonies. So very Garden Fresh!

Aria Floral paid such amazing attention to detail, with every little rock, piece of fruit and bloom it was a feast for the eyes! Aria Floral also handmade the spiral place card holders to set in the wheat grass as the display for the guest to find their table.

The two love birds danced all night long...

...as the band played their favorite tunes!

Jennifer and Brian were such a delight to work with on their wedding. They were referred to us by Lori Gerber who was a client in January and now we are all one big happy family. Jennifer and Brian are not only a beautiful couple but a very strong, loving, and giving couple. During the planning process there were several stressful events that happened but those events only brought the two closer together. The emotional ceremony was so heartfelt and honest you could feel the love in the room.

The Wedding and Reception was held at Enman the newest downtown Asheville venue site. The couple had the wedding on the middle floor overlooking downtown Asheville and then guest were escorted upstairs for a cocktail hour while the middle floor was transformed into an elegant dinning room for their dinner that was catered by Bellagios Bistro. After dinner the couple made their way to the mezzanine level to cut the wedding cake and let the fun begin.

A special thank you to the SBE staff that set up and worked so diligently to make sure this event ran smoothly and was successful. Thank you all.

Amanda and Chris are local to Asheville and wanted to have a elegant wedding that showed their fun outgoing personalities. The Wedding and Reception was held at the amazing On Broadway located in downtown Asheville in a historic elegant building. The Catering was handled by Mrs. Celine and Chef Kim and of course the wonderful staff of Celine and Company The couple selected hues of purple to adorn the building and create a very warm, inviting and elegant feeling in the room. I am so happy that Amanda and Chris were not afraid to use color in the reception - it truly made the room.
